Tania Amaral – Senior Manager of Projects & External Relations
Tania has worked in the non-profit sector for over 17 years, with a focus on racialized and marginalized newcomer women and their integration into the Canadian Labour Market.  She is also a Mediator & Conflict Resolution Specialist, and is a PMP in good standing with the PMI.  As a female professional and mother to a young daughter, Tania is a staunch advocate for women’s rights and is thrilled to be contributing to the incredible work that FAFIA-AFAI does every day

Cynthia Kenth
Cynthia brings over 20 years of communications experience in the electrical, healthcare and municipality sectors, with a strong foundation in non-profit work and fundraising for community organizations. Holding a BA in Communications from the University of Ottawa, with a focus on feminist research and the representation of women in media, she has consistently applied these insights to promote inclusive and strategic communication. Throughout her career, Cynthia has championed transparent communication practices that highlight diverse perspectives and foster more inclusive leadership in the workplace.

Shelagh Day – Human Rights Committee Chair
Shelagh Day is an expert on human rights with decades of experience working with governments and non-governmental organizations. She was the Director of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission, founding President of the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund, a -founder of the Court Challenges Program, and the President and Senior Editor of the Canadian Human Rights Reporter. In 2014, she was awarded the Order of Canada for her contributions to human rights and social change.

Bre Woligroski – Operations Committee Chair and Acting Chair of the Steering Committee
An award-winning writer, creator, and facilitator, Bre is passionate about social equity and in creating a just and community-centred world. Living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bre has been involved with numerous projects and organizations including FAFIA, the Rent Tent Project, The 2nd PanCanadian Young Feminist Gathering, RebELLEs, the Youth Peacebuilding Project, FemRev, UNPAC, and many others. Her current paid position is at the University of Manitoba, coordinating its Sexual Violence Resource Centre.

Sharon McIvor – Steering Committee Member
Sharon McIvor is a Thompson Indian and a member of the Lower Nicola Band. Ms. McIvor is a practicing lawyer and a Professor of Indigenous Studies at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology. Sharon McIvor is the plaintiff in McIvor v. Canada, a ground-breaking constitutional challenge to the sex discrimination in the status registration provisions of the Indian Act. She is also the author of a petition to the United Nations Human Rights Committee, which was decided in her favour on January 11, 2019. She was a member of Justice Bertha Wilson’s Panel on Gender Justice in the Legal Profession, a member of the Equality Rights Panel of the Court Challenges Program, and a former Justice Cooordinator of the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC).

Maria Solokova – Steering Committee Member
Maria Sokolova is a lawyer called to the bars of British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador. She has a Master’s degree in Law from Harvard Law School, international human rights concentration. Throughout her career, Maria has worked on many domestic and international human rights projects and with a number of non-profit organizations. Maria is committed to improving access to justice and dedicated to supporting the implementation of economic, social, and cultural rights.
